Hello. I am a BACP registered psychodynamic counsellor working with clients in Basingstoke. I work both in private practice and for a counselling charity. I offer a safe and confidential space, either online or in person, where you can explore your thoughts and feelings and be heard with curiosity and compassion. My aim is to build an accepting and trusting relationship with you, so that you can talk freely and openly about whatever you need to bring to our sessions together. Taking this first step can feel daunting but doing so offers you the potential to experience greater self-awareness, and find new ways to think about yourself and how you relate others.

Working together

I am a psychodynamic counsellor. In our work together, we will explore the experiences and patterns from your early life that may be shaping your present, both consciously and unconsciously. This approach opens up space for deeper understanding, allowing you to be more aware of difficult emotions, unresolved issues, and recurring patterns that may be holding you back. My aim is to support you in making meaningful changes and finding greater clarity and well-being.

Taking that first step can be the hardest part. Coming to therapy means bringing your vulnerability and this might feel daunting, but I will work with you to provide a supportive therapeutic relationship, where being seen and heard in your struggle can empower you to discover your own resourcefulness and capacity for change.

Whatever your reason for coming - whether you're struggling with a sudden change in your life, feelings of anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, a sense of loss or grief, or just feel you lack direction - we can work together to create a space for self-discovery, meaning and purpose.

Accessibility

Unfortunately my current location is on a first floor and so may not be accessible but please contact me so we can discuss this.

Practicalities

I work with individuals over the age of 18. Sessions can be in person or online.

Therapy requires a regular commitment. Sessions are at a fixed time every week. When we begin to explore your reasons for coming, we can think together about whether time limited or open ended sessions might best work for you.

Fees

A two session assessment process is £110, which is payable in advance or on the day.

On going sessions are £55 and a session lasts 50 minutes.

Payments can be made in advance or on the day using cash, cheque or BACS.

My qualifications and ethical commitment

I have a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling (Level 5) accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), and the Professional Standards Authority. I am bound by their ethical guidelines and codes of practice, including their requirements for supervision and continued professional development. There is a link to a copy of the BACP ethical commitment at the bottom of the page.

What Happens Next?

I offer a free 30 minute appointment so that we can explore whether we think we would like to work together. This can be on the phone or in person. We could then agree to have two further sessions (each 50 minutes duration) so that you can experience psychodynamic counselling with me. In those sessions we will explore in more depth, the reasons that have brought you to counselling and what your hopes and goals for counselling might be.  Also, there are many different approaches to counselling, so the first two sessions provide an opportunity for you to think about whether psychodynamic counselling feels the right approach for you. You can find out more information about different therapies on the BACP website.

There may be circumstances where I may not feel I am the best fit for what you need from counselling. If this is the case I would offer to think about this with you and what options that may be available to support you.
